The 2022 Dearne Community Arts’ Festival took place on Saturday 24th September at Astrea Academy Dearne.

We had 21 exhibitors in the Main Hall this year, with new stalls from Michelle Morley, Alison Marshall, Amy Thornton, William Cleland, Gordon Phillips, Nichola Hagland and Samantha Diamond.

Workshops included some run by DCAF volunteers (glass-painting and a workshop featuring postcards made up of photographs of local views to remind us of our ‘Love Where You Live’ banner), paper engineering by Alex Bennett (‘Pop Up Pmpom Pets’), along with many regulars from old friends.

This was our busiest year to date for performances on stage, including the debut solo performance from children from BYC Children’s Choir East, who rehearse each week at Astrea Academy Dearne, and the first public performance from The Snap Tin Strummers (a ukulele group meeting at the Snap Tin Cafe) and The Elks (four pupils of Astrea Academy Dearne).

The launch of the Platinum Jubilee Quilt, along with quilts made by pupils and staff of Lacewood Primary School and members of Goldthorpe Pentecostal Community Church, was especially poignant in the Queen’s Jubilee year, following her death on 8th September and funeral on 19th September.
