Big Local Thurnscoe created a sculpture trail (‘Go Wild in Thurnscoe!’) in 2019. DCAF decorated one of the sculptures, a sun bear later named Vincent, using decoupage. Despite being rained off at a community event in Thurnscoe Flower Park on 27th July to decorate him, Vincent was completed with features reflecting the world of music and art (Van Gogh’s ‘sunflowers’ leading to his name), with a Union Jack neckerchief around his neck to reflect his local ethnicity!

Vincent has toured a number of community buildings and currently resides at Goldthorpe Library, joining us for the arts’ festival each year as our official mascot.
