To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, DCAF’s community art project for 2022 was to make a quilt. Local groups and residents were involved in creating squares commemorating national and local events in each decade from the 1950s through to the 2020s. The quilt was unveiled at the arts’ festival on 24th September 2022 in memory of Queen Elizabeth II who died on 8th September 2022 and whose funeral was on 19th September 2022.

The quilt now hangs in Thurnscoe Library.

Anita Heatherglen from the Snap Tin Community Hub was responsible for the management of the project, with Audrey O’Driscoll, Janet Eades and Margaret George creating the centre and corner squares.
