Goldthorpe Railway Embankment Mural (2021)
Our community art project for 2021 (delayed from 2020 because of coronavirus restrictions) was to create a mural on the brick wall of the Goldthorpe Railway Embankment, a beautiful green space created by local residents (helped by the Dearne Area Team and Network Rail). Artist Lydia Caprani worked with local residents between 5th and 9th July 2021 to paint a design to remind us of the heritage of the site, featuring green spaces and a train.
Residents involved in this project were:
1. Lydia Caprani (lead artist)
2. Anita Heatherglen (Chair, DCAF)
3. Jenny Yates (Dearne Area Team)
4. Claire Dawson (Dearne Area Team)
5. Julie Turner (Secretary, DCAF)
6. Darryl Hand (Dearne Area Team)
7. Alison Vint (Big Local Thurnscoe & DCAF committee)
8. Michael Bunting (caretaker, Railway Embankment site)
9. Jamie Reay
10.Emma Bourdon
11.David Ellinger
12.Ken Moore

Children (Esther & Rebekah Turner, aged 4 and 2) were also involved in painting. Schoolchildren could not be involved as originally planned because of coronavirus restrictions.
